Focus Screenings

Five films are featured in the “Focus Screenings” program -  “Being Jérôme Bel”, “Gracefully”, “AVIVA”, “Cunningham 3D” and “WOMB 3D”. These films show the audience the lives of great minds and choreographers like Merce Cunningham and Jérôme Bel, and strong characters like the 80 year-old farmer who dances in Iran publicly in “Gracefully” and the gender-fluid protagonists in “AVIVA”. Abstract and performing art lovers would love the sensual expansion felt in “WOMB” directed by swiss choreographer Gilles Jobin.
焦點放映單元豐富多彩！五套焦點影片分別有在永樂戲院放影的紀錄片《化身鬼才謝洛姆》及《粉紅舞漢抗逆 》，於科大影院放映的《子宮3D》及《簡寧漢3D 》，以及被評為色情級只能於網上播放的劇場片《艾維雅》！從全球最具影響⼒的編舞之⼀梅爾斯．簡寧漢（Merce Cunningham）、到享譽國際的法國編舞哲⼈謝洛姆．⾙（Jérôme Bel）；從以舞蹈對抗極權的伊朗務農伯伯，到於現今性別迷思中來回擺盪的艾維雅；從真實的紀錄到抽像的轉化......五部作品一一震憾心靈、直視人性、挑戰本質、跨越舞蹈、生活、哲學、科技與藝術。不論是喜歡舞蹈影像，或單純喜歡欣賞電影的體驗，都不容錯過！    

Exploring Dance Film in 3D
探索 3D舞蹈影像

The documentary "Cunningham" was filmed with 3D technology to bring the audience into the creation mindset of Merce Cunningham in a more immersive way. The 3D version "WOMB" was created by Gilles Jobin in 2016, a brainchild born of his passion in both dance and new media. A post-screening conversation with Gilles Jobin will be held online to share with the audience how 3D technology works to bring his idea into virtual reality."​
紀錄片《簡寧漢》以3D技術拍攝，讓觀眾有置現場窺探簡寧漢的創作路。瑞士編舞家 Gilles Jobin 將其對舞蹈與其對新影像技術的熱情相結合，在2016年製作了3D電影《子宮》，映後 Gilles Jobin 與觀眾線上分享這些技術幫助3D舞蹈呈現出如同現場舞蹈一樣強烈的緊張感。
​Awards Finalists  ​
競賽入圍
During its open call for submission from July to October 2020, ROLLOUT received 1100 dance films from 89 countries and regions submitted to enter the Festival’s award contest and selection. Within the contest category, 28 finalists to the ROLLOUT Jury Award, Jury Recommendation Awards, Audience Choice Award and Innovation Award were shortlisted.  These finalist films will be screened through three “Awards Finalists” programs held on 2 Jan and 3 Jan 2021 and the award winners will be announced on 10 Jan 2021. 
「競賽入圍放映」為本年7月至10月期間進行國際舞蹈影片徵集所得之精選作品，共獲得來⾃89個國家及地區超過1,100部作品報名參展，展示了國際舞蹈力量對澳門的熱烈關注。參展影片分競選和非競選類別。當中，經過一輪激烈票選，最終選出28條短片入選「競賽入圍放映」單元，一同角逐評審大獎、評審推介、入場觀眾票選及創新大獎共六個獎項。觀眾可在1月2日及3日入場觀看入圍影片，共分三個場次，一次過飽覽當前世界舞蹈短片之種種面向，並投下心水一票，賽果將於1月10日公佈，敬請拭目以待。

The ROLLOUT official selection consists of 87 films, under nine categories - “Dance in the Time of Lockdown”, “Documentaries”, “Animations”, “Ecoculture”, “Conviviality”, “World Kaleidoscope”, “Macao Dance Film Pulse”, “China Dance Film Pulse” and “Portuguese Dance Film Pusle”, each showing a different exploration of dance film making. Like other forms of arts, dance film has been used to study, understand, present and call attention to the lives and happenings around us, and we believe in the many possibilities it carries and generates. 

“Dance in the Time of Lockdown” is one of the key themes in this edition of ROLLOUT. Social distancing is not an obstacle to creation, but rather a condition artists reflect on through their creative practices. With limited resources and spaces, how dance and video artists respond to this new reality will be shown through 12 dance films to be screened on 1 Jan 2021. Taking place at a turning point between the years, the program will show how the 2020 story is told differently with some unusual creative energies.
本屆官方入圍影⽚包括28條競選影片及87條非競選影片，各具多元面向，策展人特別精選出以下9個入圍主題放映，讓觀眾飽覧舞蹈影像的盛饗。 包括：舞在瘟疫隔離時、紀錄片系列、動畫系列、生態文化、多元共融、世界萬花筒、澳門舞蹈影像脈動、中國舞蹈影像脈動以及葡萄牙舞蹈影像脈動。作為一種藝術創作的媒介，舞蹈影像同樣關心世界動向，關注大千世界的各種事情，可以是一種獨一無二的語言，直指本質，極具穿透力和感染力。
 
其中，「Dance in the Time of Lockdown 舞在瘟疫隔離時」為本年非常特殊的一個主題，隔離並不能阻檔創作的心，藝術就是對生活最直接的反映，在有限的資源和條件下，來看各舞蹈影像人如何釋放出獨一無二的創作火花，回應當下！精選12部作品，於1月1日下午放映，以一種意想不到的能量，回顧2020，展望2021。​
​SPECIAL CURATIONS
​專題策展
Recommended selections made by guest curators from ROLLOUT’s partnering platforms will converge in the “Special Curations” program. These selections comprise “Land.Scapes from the SEA” by Elysa Wendi, curator of Cinemovement Singapore, selected dance films commissioned by City Contemporary Dance Company Hong Kong, “Hybrid Motion” and “Look Two Ways Revisited” by Jumping Frames Hong Kong, a recommended selection by Hsiao-Yin Peng, curator of Dancescreen Taiwan, and “Today’s Special” by Ergao from Guangzhou. On top of the screenings, Elysa Wendi will share with the audience online about her experience of curating lab creations on 9 Jan 2021. She will talk about how lab creations can go beyond geographical restrictions and the status quo under challenging conditions and cultural differences.
在專題策展方面，特邀亞州活躍舞蹈影像平臺及製作人，一起推薦非常值得被看見的作品，包括由新架坡Cinemovement策展人Elysa Wendi精選「Land.Scapes from the SEA 東南亞舞影光譜」；香港城市當代舞蹈團精選CCDC委約作品、以及由香港策展人聯合合作推介之「舞影·混雙」及「相‧人‧再起舞」；由台北策展人彭筱茵推介之 「島嶼身景．舞影漫遊」以及廣州策展人二高送上之「是日例牌」！一次過飽覧鄰近地區之跨地合作、身景對話、文化踫撞下之舞蹈影像魅力和火花，還可能找到許多本澳舞蹈及影片愛好者親切又熟悉的面孔呢！看的不夠，還可以參與討論。Elysa Wendi將在1月9日晚於線上與我們分享這些年在不同國家和地區策劃舞蹈實驗室的苦樂逸事，以及在有限條件下創作出來的作品，如何迸發出無限可能「跳出」實驗室，跳出框框，跳到世界各地繼續放映和發展，探討舞蹈影像作品的生命力和不容小覷的可能性！

ROLLOUT網上影院在1月1日起至10日期間，放映部份澳門舞蹈影像，其後更會陸逐開放網上影院的平臺供世界各地人士登入觀看，讓舞蹈影像的世界零距零！
​Satellite Events
​衛星點對點
A number of “Satellite Events” will be held throughout the Festival. In these satellite events, exchange screenings will be held on site and discussions will be held online among ROLLOUT’s network partners in different cities, looking for co-contributions and co-enrichment in the sphere of dance film. The first Satellite Roadshow will connect ROLLOUT with Hsiao-Yin Peng, a film director and the curator of DanceScreen Taiwan. An exchange screening showcasing works from Taipei, Hong Kong and Macao will be held at Taipei Artist Village, followed by an online discussion among dance film curators from these three cities. 

The second Satellite Events will connect ROLLOUT with Ergao, a dance artist and the curator of “Today’s Special” in Guangzhou. “Today’s Special” invites curators and artists from different cities to present a local ‘dish’, meaning to present a local dance film, to make a big feast in its festival. In July 2020, ROLLOUT has already presented a dance film from Macao in its screening at the Changjian Art Museum in the Shanxi Province of China. ROLLOUT will join the feast again at the Times Museum in Guangdong City on 31 Jan 2021, bringing the new Macao selection to “Today’s Special” with the themes of fluidity, exile and nostalgia. This new selection comes from the new “Macao Dance Film Pusle” program, which will be screened in the ROLLOUT Dance Film Festival on 7 Jan 2021. 

Future Satellite Events will be on air in Portugal, Australis and Poland, stay tuned!
網上放映、線上互動不再是陌生的事情， 本屆ROLLOUT嘗試線上線下同步開展，以「衛星點對點」為概念的海內外城市對接交流活動，不單是網上放映，在點對點城市設實體放映，線上互動討論，一方面把本澳作品引薦出去，也把外地作品引進入來，同時深入互動，期望逐步與各方舞蹈影像平臺攜手掀動舞蹈影像之浪潮。打響頭炮的是12月27日與台北策展人及影像導演彭筱茵的對接，在台北國際藝術村放映台北、澳門及香港之三地舞蹈影像作品，並在線上與公眾見面，交流三地舞蹈影像發展與火花！緊接著，與廣州策展人二高對接，以 「是日例牌」之名，邀多個地區各自帶上一道「菜」作客，一道關於#流動、#流放、#觀察鄉愁（Nostalgia）之地方菜。其實，早在2020年7月時，「是日例牌」已帶過一部澳門作品到山西千渡長江美術館放映。這次，重新徴集新作，將於2021年 1月 7日在澳門實體放映，再在1月31日連同「澳門舞蹈影像脈動」一起巡映至廣東時代美術館，火熱送到廣州的朋友品嚐！未來，「衛星點對點」將不停站，繼續連線對接到葡萄牙、澳州及波蘭等地，敬請拭目以待！

It aims to encourage everyone to create, experiment and have fun in MAKING A DANCE FILM. To participate in this exciting challenge, contestants should make and submit a complete dance film of exactly 1 minute according to a specific theme within 48 hours. Submission is open from 1 Jan 2021 12:00 (GMT+8) to 3 Jan 2021 12:00 (GMT+8) at https://filmfreeway.com/Rolling48Challenge. We welcome everyone to join and win the prizes or vote for their favorite dance short in the challenge!
